E325 Computing for Environmental Scientists_2021

The course focuses on the use of spreadsheets to solve problems encountered in environmental research such as determining degradation coefficients, noise propagation, natural resources management, growth models, and pollutants transportation models. Topics include graphing, integral, derivative, differential, data analysis, linear and nonlinear regression, solving simultaneous linear equations, scientific graphing, matrix, writing VBA and Basis function. 

The course may also introduce students to applications of GIS, Matlab and R to handle 1-dimensional, 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional contaminant spreading problems, image processing, environmental database management, etc.
